Bert Teunissen

Bert Teunissen's "Domestic Landscapes" are the most striking of these i've seen. They are all portraits, but accurately described as landscapes because although the people are so immediately striking, you find yourself inspecting everything else in the photograph...the spaces of these people. He has done this project in 9 countries and it is wonderful to see the similarities in peoples homes of the same culture, and then to find the eccentricities of each individual home. Some of them almost look like the same place just changed around a little and with a different person...i wonder if it is or if they are just really that similar? I find myself wanting most of the furniture in every picture (most likely because I own very little furniture since i've settled in new york and i crave it) and the tile and the linens and everything! I really connect with these pictures in an almost fantasy-like way, however real they are. Here's a few of his beautiful pictures.
